Car Collection - Da-Xing Page 1
The Da Xing range of Mini-4WD originates out of China. While their range is not as wide as the Tamiya range they do have some interesting models. They do tend to major on clones of older Tamiya models which are now typically out of print. This cloning goes as far as to even copy the box art and the familiar Tamiya logo which is just subtlety altered. While I don't condone clones/knock-offs there is in some ways a market for these as it gives people like me a chance to get models of cars that are no longer available from Tamiya and which are massively expensive on the 'after market' sources. They are also typically cheaper, although this is beginning to change, which makes them great options as kits to practice on and gaining experience before moving onto the more expensive Tamiya models. They can also be considered a cheap way to get spare parts and/or use them as a donor car to modify a Tamiya model for example. For the most part the range of chassis used is not as big as they typically have not got cars in their range that utilise the newer chassis' such as the MS, MA or VZ.
Aero Manta Ray White Special

This Da-Xing car is one of the more recent models they have produced and jumps on the band wagon of being a 'special edition' in this instance a white special.
This is in my opinion probably one of the nicest models they have released to date. Sure maybe the pink may not be perfect for some people. But with the white pearlescent plastic of the body combined with a pink chassis and metallic pink wheels it is a bit special and to me just 'works'.

- Motor: Stock 130 with a single shaft which transmits power using a prop shaft to gears on both axles.
Like all of my Da-Xing guinea pigs this model was assembled as a box model with no upgrade parts. Although to be honest this one could be a candidate for modification later as I just love the look. Unfortunately I managed to tear the sticker for the cockpit when getting it off the sheet - one of the only downsides to Da-Xing models is that the stickers are not as good quality as the typical Tamiya ones. As such I will need to paint the cockpit in at some point to finish the model.
Beak Spider Premium

This is a classic example of a Da-Xing clone of an older Tamiya model. This is reflected in every respect and you sometimes see original old Tamiya's in exactly this livery with this artwork advertised on eBay. But as I said in the header, if you don't have it, want it and can't afford a Tamiya OOP this is an option.
- Body: ABS plastic
- Chassis: Super II
- Motor: Stock 130 with a single shaft which transmits power using a prop shaft to gears on both axles.
Built purely as a box model with no modifications and only using the supplied sticker set.
Beak Spider Zebra

This Da-Xing clone is again of an older Tamiya model which I have seen originals of advertised online. I don't know if this is 100% a clone of the Tamiya variant as it does have a clear black body shell and I'm not sure if the original did or not. Regardless it makes for a quiet attractive model.

This one will be built as a box standard when I get round to it.
Update 17/07/25: I've now built this to a box stock standard and added pictures of it in that form. The body is quite nice as the clear black body works nicely, although there are so many stickers this is not necessarily obvious. If I were ever to upgrade this one I may well remove the stickers and paint it instead.
Note: During assembly, both axles failed the test with the axle checker tool. However it still runs quite well if a little noisy due to the slightly bent axles. If I were ever to upgrade this they would need to be changed. This is a little unusual as I've not had this problem with Da-Xing kits in the past.

Blazing Max - Prism Blue Special

This is example from Da-Xing may be a clone of an older Tamiya model, but I'm not sure as it is also a 'Blue Special'. In this instance this means you get a transparent blue body shell which does add quite a bit to the model design.

Blitzer-Sonic Black Special

Another example of a Da-Xing clone of an older Tamiya model, in this case it is the Blitzer Sonic, however it is also listed as a 'Black Special'. I don't know if this was a variant in the Tamiya range, but in this example the 'Black Special' seems to be limited to it having a black body shell.

Desert Golem

This is another clone of an older Tamiya model, but I'm not sure if it is carrying the original Tamiya name for this design. Nonetheless it is a pleasant model to build and results in a reasonably nice looking racer. The stickers work pretty well on this one as well.

Mach Frame - Korea Special

This Da-Xing clone is a more recent release and is in this case a clone of a current Tamiya model. There are 3 variants available, one with a black body (Black Special), gold body (Gold Special) and this one which is a clone of the Tamiya 'Korea Fighting' variant. One other improvement is that this model actually uses the FM-A chassis so again is a direct clone. The only main difference is the price as far as I can tell as the components in the Da-Xing models (even the older ones) are pretty well made.

- Chassis: FM-A
- Motor: Stock 130 with a single shaft which transmits power using a prop shaft to gears on both axles.

Neptune Wand

Another Da-Xing clone of an older Tamiya model it is pretty faithful in terms of the copy, apart from it carrying a different name to the Tamiya original (which I can't recall at the moment). This is quite a nice model, with some great looks and a good set of stickers. If you can't find the original Tamiya or you just want to add this one to your collection it is a nice cheap option.
