My Car Collection

Although this site is primarily here to support the Tamiya range of Mini-4WD cars, circuits, accessories etc...  I fully acknowledge that there are more brands of cars that are mostly compatible or even have interchangeable parts that would work on a Tamiya Chassis and vice-a-versa.

This is reflected in my collection of Mini-4WD as when I was starting out I was looking for entry level priced models to gain experience on.  But, regardless of that you will also find that there are some cars available in these other ranges that are not featured in the Tamiya range.  You will also find that some of the Chinese branded kits are basically just clones of (often) older out of print Tamiya models and almost indistinguishable from the originals, just a lot cheaper.  However there is beginning to be models released which are variants of Tamiya kits, but in forms not seen as far as I know as Tamiya originals.  These kits often feature colour variants or special editions with things like metallic plated bodies, clear coloured bodies, etc...

On this basis expect to see a whole range of models here, some better than others, but all ones I purchased.  You will also find some that are currently only partly completed 'work in progress' models.  For these latter cars I will update the photographs of models in WIP stage with pictures of the eventually final model - if any can ever be considered final as if you mod min-4WD cars you could be working on them on and off forever!  Anyway, enjoy and I hope these give you an idea of what is available out there, feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions, comments or can offer example pictures of models you have built/modded and are not featured in this area as I will eventually add a catalogue of 'submitters masterpieces'...

There is a massive range of different Tamiya Mini-4WD kits including 'Racers', 'Real-World',  'Monster Trucks' and special starter or collection kits.  There is also a massive range of 'upgrade parts' available for most conceivable situations/mods.

The Da Xing range of Mini-4WD originates out of China. While their range is not as wide as the Tamiya range they do have some interesting models. They do tend to major on clones of older Tamiya models which are now typically out of print. This cloning goes as far as to even copy the box art and the familiar Tamiya logo which is just subtlety altered. While I don't condone clones/knock-offs there is in some ways a market exists for these as it gives people like me a chance to get models of cars that are no longer available from Tamiya and which are massively expensive on the 'after market' sources.

This section is for brands which do not have their own dedicated sections on the basis that a dedicated page for maybe one or two models is not really that efficient.  However if I do collect more than a couple of any particular brand they will eventually be moved to their own dedicated page.

Lastly this section is for the diecast Mini-4WD cars that Tomica have started to produce.  I have to admit the first one I purchased (an Avante Jr. Black Special) was purchased in the mistaken belief that it was a genuine Mini-4WD car made on behalf of Tomica by Tamiya as the box art is a full reproduction of the Tamiya model it is representing including the Tamiya logo.  It was only when it turned up in the post that I was shocked to find this miniature little replica box with a hot wheels sized diecast model of an Avante Jr. Black Special inside it!  So beware if you are not familiar with these and avoid a potentially costly mistake as these sell for a good price.
